Film stars and celebrities often share their views on public matters that have little to do with their profession.
Is this a positive or negative development?
Some have a belief that, despite having no connection to their own professions, these days a number of renowned movie artists and other celebrities are more into expressing personal opinions on public affairs on social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and so on. It is neither a positive nor negative development, in my opinion. Because influential personalities, with no expert knowledge, can jeopardize societal harmony. However, some encouraging and wise personalities might also persuade people to join hands together to make the world a better place to live.
A number of enlightened celebrities who have positive attitudes towards life and society can bring many benefits to society as a whole if they express their opinions on public matters. For instance, during the covid-19 period, many Bollywood personalities such as Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Sonu Sood came forward to guide people to safeguard themselves by following safety rules. Apart from this, they also supported farmers in their battle with the government through social media handles- Instagram and Twitter. Many Punjabi film stars also showed their support including Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk, and Ranjit Bawa.
Nevertheless, it has many repercussions too owing to some cynical stars who love to open out about public matters unnecessarily. Take an example of a renowned movie star ‘Kangana Ranaut’, being a rebel, and is used to talking and writing pretty negative thoughts about the usual customs and society as a whole. She seems to be self-obsessed and against everyone in the world which might be due to her negative life experiences. Thus, if such kind of influential personalities would be allowed to speak on public topics then harmony is more likely to be disturbed and even can disturb the sentiments of many people which can not be considered a favorable trend.
Altogether, to make it a completely positive development, the government must interfere and set strict laws against such peace troublers. Until it is difficult to be considered as either a positive or negative development.
