IELTS WRITING TASK 1 – TABLE

The tables show responses to a questionnaire given by two groups of people (club members and the general public) who showed their opinions about a new theatre. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main points, and make comparisons where relevant.

The opinions expressed by the general public and club members about a new theatre are contrasted in the three tables. It is evident that while some of the responses were similar, others differed.

Overall, a greater percentage of respondents than those who rated something as “poor” gave each criterion an excellent or satisfactory rating.

Nearly equal percentages of club members and the general public (70% and 67%, respectively) rated the theater’s production quality as excellent. A similar proportion of both groups—13% and 15%—felt the production quality was poor, while 17% and 18%, respectively, thought it was satisfactory.

A small minority of club members and the general public (5% and 2%) rated the information about the plays and performances as poor, while 72% and 88% of the former group rated it as excellent. A similar percentage of the latter group rated it as satisfactory.

Just 55% of the general public thought highly of the theater’s amenities, compared to 75% of club members who thought the same. Satisfied with the facilities were 23% of club members and 19% of the general public, respectively. But those who gave the facilities a poor rating show the largest disparity. Although only 2% of club members thought the facilities were subpar, 26% of the general public expressed extreme dissatisfaction with them and gave them a poor rating.
